Q and A

Q: What is the theme?

A: You can send work on either or both of two themes: Christmas or another end-of-year Holiday; and "The Life of Children."

Q: Will the winners be published?

A: The winners of each age group will be published on this website, and may be published in print if quality and space permits. The Grand Prize winner will be published in print, in the Author's Journal of Inventive Literature. All winners will be given editing help as needed. Honorable Mentions, which may be given at the discretion of the judges, may also be published.

Q: Will children and teens be competing against adults?

A: There are 8 age groups, and there will be a 1st-prize winner for each age group. The Grand Prize winner will be chosen from among the first-prize winners of all teen and adult categories.

Q: Is there a fee to enter?

A: The entry fee is $8 per person, or $20 per household or class. 25% of the proceeds will go to the Grand Prize Winner. 25% of the proceeds will go to the Home School Legal Defense Association.

Q: What if I can't afford the entry fee?

A: You can always submit work to any upcoming issue of the AJIL for free, including The Life of Children, the issue in which winners may be published. For further help, contact Alana K. Asby (contact info in footer.)
